Today we got the honor of interviewing Danielle (Humphrey's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Goldstone: Before I got Humphrey I had discovered a couple of amazing Goldendoodle accounts on social media, seeing the videos and photos of these beautiful dogs each day made me so happy and I could see how much joy they brought so many others too! So I thought that when we got Humphrey it would be fun to start documenting and sharing his life with the hope that other people too could experience the joy that I had received. We never set out to become an influencer as such, it was more about sharing his adventures with others. I never thought his account would have grown to what it has today, I think it is so special that people love and adore him as much as we do!

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Goldstone: Humphrey has a very strong, quirky personality and it shows through in his videos. He is very entertaining and makes us laugh every day with his funny traits. I feel that a lot of people have resonated with him so much because they see these same characteristics in their pets so they feel a connection. He is so expressive and gets 'big feelings' which is really sweet to see which brings people a lot of joy.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Goldstone: I wouldn't say I have a creative process as such, I tend to capture different moments and experiences with him throughout the day and then when I come across a cute audio or see a funny video I'll remember an adorable snippet of content I took of Humphrey that I feel would match perfectly with that sound etc! I think from being on social media for so long you tend to get used to knowing what works and what people like to see so this always helps when creating the content. I like to keep it light-hearted and fun because dogs bring so much happiness to our lives and this is what our account is based around.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Goldstone: Yes! The more people our posts reach and the more his account grows so does the negativity unfortunately. Which continues to shock me because dogs are so pure and so loving and our content is always based around Humphrey being happy and funny, so I don't understand the negative comments and messages we receive simply for just posting about our dog. I used to get upset about it in the beginning, however now I just let it slide because you can't change opinions of strangers and I don't ever add fuel to it by responding. The love we receive far outweighs the negativity, so I just remind myself of this.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Goldstone: I would just say to have fun with it and not take it too seriously in the beginning. It is an amazing community to be a part of and we have made so many connections with amazing people from all around the world. So it is a great way to connect with like-minded people who share the same love and passion for dogs as what you do. I feel the more time you spend on creating content and being active on social media the better you will become (like with anything in life). I think a lot of people start an account and expect it to take off overnight, but it takes time and consistency.

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Goldstone: Oh gosh...he has been my rock! We have experienced so many life changes the past couple of years and I honestly don't know how I would have gotten through it without him by my side. It is so special having a little buddy who is just with you all the time and who brings so much love and happiness. They make our lives so much richer. Because they only have a short time with us, Humphrey has definitely inspired me to be more active and go on more adventures because I want him to experience so much in his life with us.

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Goldstone: We've recently moved to the country (Humphrey has grown up as a city dog) and he had never seen sheep before...we have them in the paddocks around our property and the first day he saw a sheep he just froze and stood there staring at it in amazement haha! Now throughout the day, we find him resting his head on the window sill just staring at the sheep! It's very cute to see.

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Goldstone: Seeing the joy that he brings so many people from around the world, we get so many beautiful messages and comments saying how seeing him makes their day or how they just lost a dog and he reminds them so much of their dog and he brings them comfort. I think this is such a beautiful thing. So most definitely the connections with other people are my favorite thing.

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Goldstone: We will continue to create fun content and see where it continues to take us! We have worked with some amazing companies in the past so we would love to continue connecting with more people and brands. We would love to hopefully get another dog sometime this year which would be so amazing for Humphrey!
