Dogfluencers: Meet Haru and Benny

Welcome to the ultimate destination for dog enthusiasts and social media mavens alike. At Dogfluencers, we're passionate about showcasing the best and brightest in the world of four-legged fame.

Whether you're looking for adorable photos, heartwarming stories, or expert tips on how to turn your own pup into a social media star, we've got you covered.

Today we got the honor of interviewing Haru and Benny's Human, Marykate. You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Fi: Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Haru and Benny's Human: When I first started my Instagram, Haru was quite young and I saw it as a great way to chronicle his life and share it with friends and family that we don’t see everyday.

Fi: What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Haru and Benny's Human: Benny and Haru have this dynamic duo vibe to them! Like Batman and Robin. Benny has been a very easy puppy but I think it’s because he has such a good example to look up to. I think a lot of people follow us to see their training for American Schutzhund, and to see Haru hold ridiculous things for photos like hotdogs or watermelon!

Fi: How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Haru and Benny's Human: Typically when I teach a new novel behavior, I think of how we could use it in a posed photo or reel! We also post a lot of “unscripted” content, just my dogs living their best lives. Whether that means playing in the yard, hiking, or doing a full training weekend.

Fi: Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Haru and Benny's Human: We occasionally get negative comments, especially on posts where the dogs are posed or dressed up. But it doesn’t bother me! I know my dogs have fun doing the behaviors because it’s a voluntary process, and they love treats!

Fi: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Haru and Benny's Human: My advice would be to be yourself and post content for YOU. Post photos and videos that you’ll be so thankful you took the time to create in 20 years when your dog is no longer with you. Genuine passion and love for your dogs will come through in your posts, and help build your following.

Fi: How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Haru and Benny's Human: My first dog changed my entire life. I structure my days and weeks around their training and fun activities together. When I take a trip I consider how dog friendly it will be. I found a community through training in American Schutzhund that has provided me with friendship and support.

Fi: What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Haru and Benny's Human: My favorite thing about being a dog influencer would have to be the connections I’ve made as Haru has grown up. There are other dogs we’ve been following since they were puppies, and seven years later they’ve all grown together.

Fi: Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Haru and Benny's Human: Lots of exciting plans for this upcoming year! Haru will be trialing in the fall, so there’s lots of training videos to come, and we have several adventures planned for spring and summer hiking.

We hope that their story has inspired you to appreciate your furry friend's unique personality and share it with the world! Being a dog influencer is a fun and rewarding experience, but it's important to prioritize our dogs' health and wellbeing as well.

Remember to always create content that is positive, wholesome, and showcases your dog's individuality. And in the face of negativity, it's important to stand up for fellow dog lovers and keep the community positive. We hope that reading about their journey as a dog influencer has brought a smile to your face and reminded you of the special bond between us and our beloved pets.
