Welcome to the ultimate destination for dog enthusiasts and social media mavens alike. At Dogfluencers, we're passionate about showcasing the best and brightest in the world of four-legged fame.
Whether you're looking for adorable photos, heartwarming stories, or expert tips on how to turn your own pup into a social media star, we've got you covered.
Today we got the honor of interviewing Janina (Maya's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Burmeister: Maya, my 3-month-old Golden Retriever puppy, attracts attention wherever we go, with people stopping us to admire her. When many started inquiring about her Instagram presence, I decided to create one for her. Her account quickly gained traction, now with a highly engaged following of 10.6k followers eager to watch her grow.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Burmeister: Maya's playful and cheeky personality, and adorable smile set her apart on social media. Her curiosity and charm shine through in every post, whether she's exploring new places like the beach or showing off her tricks, people keep coming back for more.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Burmeister: When brainstorming post ideas, I like to imagine the world from Maya's perspective. I think about what she finds exciting or amusing in her daily adventures. Whether it's a hilarious reel of her refusing to walk or a candid moment of her exploring with wide-eyed wonder, I try to capture her unique perspective and share it with our followers to bring a smile to their faces.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Burmeister: While our followers are generally positive and engaging, one challenge is dealing with scammers who claim to be looking for brand ambassadors. This is something we're mindful of, and to protect our community, we don't accept any deals without thorough vetting. If we encounter such scammers, we take swift action by blocking them to ensure the integrity of Maya's platform. We choose carefully whom we work with.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Burmeister: For anyone starting out with a dog social media account, my advice would be to stay authentic. Share genuine moments that showcase your dog’s personality. Engage with your followers and build a community by responding to comments and messages. Be mindful of scammers and always prioritize the safety and well-being of your dog. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the journey of sharing your dog’s adventures with the world!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Burmeister: Yes, Maya has had a profound impact on my life beyond social media. She has brought so much joy and laughter into our home, teaching us about patience, responsibility, and unconditional love. Maya's playful spirit encourages us to get outside, explore new places, and live in the moment. Despite being an absolute menace at times (a land shark), she has truly become a beloved member of our family, bringing us closer together and adding an extra layer of happiness to our lives.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Burmeister: Nothing ever goes as planned with a puppy. Our trip to the beach to capture Maya's first swim turned into an adventure. We brought her to the water's edge, ready to witness her first splash. But instead of gracefully paddling, Maya had other plans. We tossed a ball into the water, hoping to encourage her to swim, but all she did was excitedly chase after it, splashing and barking with enthusiasm. Despite her attempts to retrieve the elusive ball she couldn't quite reach, Maya's beach day turned into a hilarious game of 'chase the ball' (unsuccessfully) rather than a swimming lesson. It was a moment filled with laughter and her playful determination though.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Burmeister: My favorite thing about being a dog influencer is the incredible community we've built around Maya. It's wonderful to connect with fellow dog lovers from around the world who share in our joy and love. Through Maya's platform, we've been able to spread positivity, share laughs, and even inspire others to cherish the special moments with their own pets. Being a dog influencer isn't just about posting cute pictures—it's about creating a community of love and appreciation for our pets.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Burmeister: We're excited to share that we've just launched an online store featuring merchandising for dog lovers! This includes T-shirts and hoodies inspired by Maya's and the joy she brings. Additionally, we're embarking on a new venture by starting a business selling dog products. We're looking forward to expanding Maya's brand, offering quality products that enhance the lives of dogs and their humans. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting projects on the horizon!
