Today we got the honor of interviewing Jaimey (Gus's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Hessler: To spread the word of our rescue and share our fostering journey

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Hessler: Gus really is my heart dog. I didn’t know I needed him when he came into my life. He is just like me and helped me out of the darkest times of my life. He inspired me to follow my dream in dog rescue and help as many weenies as we can. He goes everywhere with me and we capture that in our stories and posts on social media to help brighten other people’s days.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Hessler: Not at all, he goes everywhere with me and I just capture that organically.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Hessler: I have been fortunate to not, but I know it’s out there. I remind myself our account captures our life and that’s all that matters.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Hessler: Just do it. There is no right or wrong way to do it, just jump in and have fun. Don’t worry about likes or views.

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Hessler: In every way possible. He is my heart and soul. He was supposed to be a birthday gift for my son, and he immediately captured my heart and we connected as if we were always meant to meet. It’s something that’s hard to explain but he’s mine and I’m his, and he helped me out of one of the darkest times of my life. I really owe him my life.

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Hessler: Last year when we were taking gardening pictures and Gus kept eating our veggies we grew, so we only had one tiny tomato to shoot with.

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Hessler: Having these memories to look back on.

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Hessler: We have some summer travels we are looking forward to showcasing!
